This little bit of dental humor has been around for quite some time, but it’s been so long that it might be new to some of you. Pay close attention to learn the fine art of dental negotiation!

MTV’s hit series, Jackass, is not for every audience. Just imagine a group of crazy guys attempting to pull off the most disgusting, strange, and painful stunts or pranks that they can possibly imagine. Many of their schemes are so shocking that you’ll never be able to erase the memory from your mind no matter how hard you try. In their third movie, the Jackass crew attempts to extract their friends perfectly healthy lateral incisor by tying it to the back of a blue Lamborghini. The end goal is to straighten the crooked tooth by reimplanting it once extracted. It’s a shame these guys never took their talent to dental school.

Shel Silverstein delighted readers for years with his songs, books, and especially his poems. His collection of poems entitled Where the Sidewalk Ends (1974) featured one special poem about a crocodile and his toothache. Enjoy!

Some of you Captain Kangaroo fans may remember this little bit of dental nostalgia. The Toothbrush Family was an Australian animated series from the 70s that had more success than you may be aware.

The family consisted of mother Tess, father Tom, Gramps, and children Tina and Toby. Other characters such as the toothpaste, Flash Fluoride, and an electric toothbrush named Hot Rod Harry added a little more variety to the show. The characters came to life in a family’s bathroom when nighttime fell and somehow had enough bathroom adventures to stay on CBS for four years.

Well…..? Are they plastic or are they steel? We were dying to know so we did a quick search on Google and after 20 seconds of searching we threw in the towel. If you happen to know what the Duke’s teeth were made of PLEASE let us know.

Now, if you’re wondering what the song means, you’ll just have to figure that out on your own as well. Try asking a Native American. Better yet, go watch the 1998 film Smoke Signals for a clue. “Shutup, Thomas!”

Don Knotts plays as Jesse Haywood, a recent dental school graduate who heads west to fight tooth decay in the 1968 film, “Shakiest Gun in the West”.  In this classic scene, he depicts the way most dental students feel when it comes to actually surviving long enough to claim that dental degree.

This video clip is not nearly as popular as “David After Dentist”, but the entertainment value is just as high. This brother and sister had their wisdom teeth extracted on the same day and their mother filmed all the after-sedation outtakes on the way home (not recommended while driving!). The video’s popularity spread even further when Ellen Degeneres invited the whole family onto her show.  They even got a free trip to Disneyland out of it!

Here’s yet another fantastic video about teeth by Sesame Street.  Funny thing is, if you read all the comments about this video on Youtube, a lot of people describe how this clip terrified them as a kid. So if you’d consider yourself part of the subpopulation with phobias about a giant set of teeth seeking employment, you might want to skip this one.
